Plastic surgery focuses on the repair or reconstruction on parts of the body by changing soft tissue structure.

Surgery, injury and congenital conditions are all reasons why plastic surgery may be needed. The plastic surgery team at Tyneside Surgical Services main interests are:

• Breast Reduction – A prodecure carried out to decrease breast size and relieve physical symptoms such as discomfort, neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain and skin irritation
• Breast Augmentation (Enlargement) – is a procedure which uses either a breast implant or fat graft to increase the size and change the shape of the breasts.
• Skin Lesion – The removal of a skin growth usually performed under a local anaesthetic. This is sometimes performed to exclude a skin cancer.
• Trigger Finger Release – Trigger finger is a condition where the tendons in the finger cannot easily move and remains in a curved position so it looks like it is pulling a trigger. Surgery to correct this condition involves cutting into the tendon sheath so that the tendon can move again
• Carpal Tunnel Decompression – A surgical procedure to minimise pain from carpal tunnel syndrome by making an incision on the roof of the carpal ligament
• Palmar Fasciectomy – Surgery to treat Dupuytren’s contracture by removing thickened connective tissue through an incision
